Box & Papers: Why They Matter When Buying a Watch in the UAE
5 min read · 20 May 2026
Two identical watches can differ in price by 20–30% based on one thing: whether they come complete. Here's what each part means in the UAE.
Full set (box & papers)
The original box, warranty card or certificate, and any tags or booklets. A complete, dated set proves provenance and commands the highest resale value.
Watch only
No box or papers. Often cheaper, but harder to authenticate and harder to sell on, so buyers and dealers expect a meaningful discount — check the serial number and condition carefully.
Service records
A recent service from the brand or a trusted watchmaker reassures buyers and protects value, especially on older or vintage pieces.
Chroniq's valuation prices every watch against comparables with the same set — never a blended average — so you see a realistic number.
